Bruce Gilden
"I'm known for taking pictures very close, and the older I get, the closer I get."
Searching for precedents for my second project I was looking at Bruce Gilden's photography, Because his work is closely related to the subject I've chosen for this project - photographing people. I think he is a great photographer. First of all because he is very loyal to his work. What he does can be quite risky, you never know how people will react if you photograph them without permission. I think his best strength as a photographer is an ability to capture the moment. It might sound weird but I believe you have to be talented for this, because it's quite hard to take a photo at the exact second you want. However I would argue about ethical side of his photography. If I was one of the people he photigraphs I wouldn't be too pleased. But he does what he does and the output is unusual and great.
The two pictures above show how people are different from each other in a really interesting way. I really like the pictures are cropped we can not fully see the tall gentlemen. Bt it makes them in our imagination even taller then they really are. Cropping plus facial expression of these ladies creates a feeling of a ridiculous difference between man and women. And I guess it implies not only phisical differnese.
I particularly love this picture. This is a perfect example of snapshot. It has really random cropping and the background is a little bit smudged. But this is not important on this picture. This photo was obviously stolen. So what's really important is the facial expression of this two ladies. And it is captured perfectly and at a perfect timing.

On the picture above I like how the background works together with the foreground. The dog on the bacgroun has kind of the same pose with the person on the forground. Plus his facial expression, he looks like he is doing something illigal. And again cropping is not planned at all but it does not matter.
