Proposal (developed)
The idea of the shooting place for this project came to my head when I was walking home the usual way on Willis street. It was quite late at night and I noticed something I have never seen before. I notice how beautiful the place was and how different it was from what I see during the day. I started to think about why is it so different and why one of the busiest streeets in Wellington suddenly became such a peaceful and romantic place. It seemed like street has it's own soul which is not visible during the daytime. So my goal for this project is to draw people's attention to street where they live, work and walk evry day and show it's personality and it's unique identity, because probably there is a lot of people like ne whonever noticed the beauty of streets they live on and never thought about the idea of street having soul. I am showing Willis street as a lonely, a little bit mysterious place, that has an atmosphere of urban romantic. Through my pictures I am trying to convey its soul that awakens when everyone else falls asleep.
I am planning to shoot mostly at twilight, during night and in early morning. I have also done some experimenting in a golden hour, which turned out to be successful. I am also trying to shoot in different weather conditions and I found it really interesting to shoot while its raining as wet surfaces give interesting reflections and unusual effects, which help to express the uniqueness of the street.
This idea of streets having souls is intereating to me because not noticing something like this sows ho romantic and poetic perception of the world almost desapears from some people's hearts because of daily busyness like it happend to me. I am particularly interested in Willis because I live on this street and i spend a lot of time walking on Willis street.
I really hope my pictures will help those people who never noticed it to think about the idea of streets having souls and I hope that it will add a little more poetry and romantic to their life.
